A9. Vacation Pay

Upon successful completion of 12 consecutive months (1 year) of employment, employees are entitled to two (2) weeks paid vacation time.  “Vacation Entitlement Year” commences and coincides annually with the start date of employee’s employment. Vacation dates cannot be taken prior to the completion of 12 consecutive months (1 year) of employment. 

Vacation pay accruals begin with the employees first working day with Gibbys Electronic Supermarket.  Employees are entitled to an accrual of four (4%) percent of their “gross” wages earned.

Upon successful completion of 5 years of consecutive employment, the employee is entitled to six (6%) percent of their “gross” wages earned as a vacation accrual, or (3) three weeks paid vacation time.

Employees can submit throughTime Force to their supervisor a request for vacation.  Vacation dates cannot be taken prior to the completion of the 12 month (1 year) period.  Vacation pay will only be paid when vacation dates are booked

Booking Vacation Time

  • All vacation requests must be submitted through Time Force, 30 days prior to the date requested.

  • Vacation is granted on a first in basis.

  • Should two employees in the same department request the same vacation dates, and the request was submitted on the same date, it will be decided upon by employee seniority which employee is granted the requested dates.  

  • Staff are NOT granted vacation time during peak periods which is November and December, without exception.

  • Car Installers are NOT permitted vacation time during peak periods which is July, August, November and December, without exception.

  • Only one employee, per department, can utilize vacation dates at a time.

  • Vacation time cannot be accumulated or carried forward into the next year.
