Gibby’s Electronic Supermarket, strives to create an atmosphere of respect and dignity where all employees are able to contribute fully. We are committed to providing a work environment free of discrimination and harassment, in which all individuals have equal opportunities.

Workplace discrimination in any form of unequal treatment based on an Ontario Human Rights Code ground,  whether imposing additional burdens or denying benefits. This includes both intentional and unintentional conduct.  It may involve direct actions that are discriminatory on their face, or it may involve rules, practices, or procedures that appear neutral, but have the effect of discriminating against or disadvantaging certain group members.  Discrimination may be obvious or it may occur in subtle ways. In any case, even if discrimination is only one factor among many factors affecting an employment decision or action, violation of this policy has occurred.

The Ontario Human Rights Code prohibits harassment in employment on the following grounds: race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed, age, record of offences, marital status, family status, or disability.

Under the Ontario Human Rights Code, all persons have the right to be free from discrimination and harassment. At Gibby’s Electronic Supermarket, unlawful discrimination and harassment will not be condoned, ignored or tolerated. If a claim of discrimination or harassment is proven, disciplinary action will be taken, up to and including termination of employment. Frivolous claims made in bad faith are also subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
