A7. Absences

Gibbys Electronic Supermarket does not provide any paid sick day, bereavement or family leave benefits.

During a calendar year you are entitled to (3) unpaid sick days, with no prohibition for requiring a doctor’s certificate, (3) unpaid family responsibility days and (2) unpaid bereavement leave days.

If you cannot make your scheduled shift, you are to call into the store at 905-685-7611 and leave a message on the administration voicemail as to why you are not coming in.  For those who work on the Sales floor, you are to notify the store manager as well as leaving a message on the administration voicemail. 

All calls are to be made
at least 2 hours prior to your scheduled shift in order to give us the time to find a substitute and/or reorganize appointments.

Calling a colleague or sending a text message is unacceptable and will be considered abandonment of shift.

Failure to comply with the above could result in disciplinary action put to and including termination.
